Point your Wix domain at us

Two small changes at Wix make your domain show the new site. About ten minutes, no technical knowledge needed.

By the Fresh Site team. Updated 30 October 2026.

Steps to verify. We could not open every part of Wix's help material, so check each screen against these words and message us if it looks different.

What you are changing

You are changing two DNS records, which are the entries that tell the internet where your domain lives. An A record covers the bare domain (yourbusiness.com.au). A CNAME record covers the www version. The values to enter are [we send you these two values].

Before you start

  • Sign in to your Wix account. You need the login for the account that holds the domain. If someone else set it up, ask them for it, or ask them to follow this page.
  • Check the domain's expiry date while you are in there. If it is close, renew it now.
  • Your email keeps working. We do not touch MX records, which are the ones that carry email.

The steps

  1. Sign in to Wix and go to Domains.
  2. Click the Domain Actions icon (three dots) next to your domain.
  3. Click Manage DNS Records.
  4. In the A (Host) section, click + Add Record.
  5. Leave Host Name blank for the bare domain (or type @ if Wix asks). Paste our first value into Value.
  6. Click Save, then Save Changes in the pop-up.
  7. If an old A record is there, hover over it, click Edit, then Got it, and replace the value.
  8. In the CNAME (Aliases) section, click + Add Record. Type www as the Host Name and paste our second value. Save.

Wix's own page covers the A record. The CNAME step is the same pattern, but we have not seen it documented, so treat that last step as to verify. If your domain is only connected to Wix and bought elsewhere, make these changes at the company you bought it from, not in Wix.

How long it takes

Usually a few minutes. Sometimes up to a day while the change spreads across the internet. Nothing is lost in the meantime: visitors see either the old site or the new one.

How to check

Type your domain into a browser, with and without the www. When both show the new site, you are done. Or just ask us, and we will check from our side.

If Wix also hosts your old site

Leave it alone. It switches off by itself once the records change. Do not cancel anything until we say the new site is live.

Not sure?

Message us and we will do it with you on a ten-minute call. Get in touch.
