Point your VentraIP domain at us

Two small changes at VentraIP make your domain show the new site. About ten minutes, no technical knowledge needed.

By the Fresh Site team. Updated 30 October 2026.

What you are changing

You are changing two DNS records, which are the entries that tell the internet where your domain lives. An A record covers the bare domain (yourbusiness.com.au). A CNAME record covers the www version. The values to enter are [we send you these two values].

Before you start

  • Sign in to VIPcontrol at ventraip.com.au. You need the login for the account that holds the domain. If someone else set it up, ask them for it, or ask them to follow this page.
  • Check the domain's expiry date while you are in there. If it is close, renew it now.
  • Your email keeps working. We do not touch MX records, which are the ones that carry email.

The steps

  1. Sign in to VIPcontrol.
  2. Click My Services, then the Domains tab.
  3. Click the DNS button beside your domain.
  4. In the row above the existing records, choose A from the Type dropdown.
  5. Leave Hostname blank (that means the bare domain). Paste our first value into Value.
  6. Click the plus icon to save the record.
  7. Choose CNAME from the Type dropdown. Type www in Hostname and paste our second value into Value.
  8. Click the plus icon again. Leave Priority and TTL as they are.

This works when your domain uses VentraIP's DNS Hosting or your VentraIP cPanel hosting. If your DNS lives somewhere else, the records go there instead. If it is cPanel hosting, VentraIP's Zone Editor does the same job: open Zone Editor, click Manage, then Add Record.

How long it takes

Usually a few minutes. Sometimes up to a day while the change spreads across the internet. Nothing is lost in the meantime: visitors see either the old site or the new one.

How to check

Type your domain into a browser, with and without the www. When both show the new site, you are done. Or just ask us, and we will check from our side.

If VentraIP also hosts your old site

Leave it alone. It switches off by itself once the records change. Do not cancel anything until we say the new site is live.

Not sure?

Message us and we will do it with you on a ten-minute call. Get in touch.
