Guide
Point your Cloudflare domain at us
Two small changes at Cloudflare make your domain show the new site. About ten minutes, no technical knowledge needed.
By the Fresh Site team. Updated 30 October 2026.
What you are changing
You are changing two DNS records, which are the entries that tell the internet where your domain lives. An A record covers the bare domain (yourbusiness.com.au). A CNAME record covers the www version. The values to enter are [we send you these two values].
Before you start
- Sign in at dash.cloudflare.com. You need the login for the account that holds the domain. If someone else set it up, ask them for it, or ask them to follow this page.
- Check the domain's expiry date while you are in there. If it is close, renew it now.
- Your email keeps working. We do not touch MX records, which are the ones that carry email.
The steps
- Sign in to the Cloudflare dashboard and click your domain.
- Go to the DNS Records page.
- Click Add record.
- Choose A in the Type field. Type
@as the name and paste our first value. - Set Proxy status to DNS only (the grey cloud) unless we tell you otherwise.
- Click Save.
- Click Add record again. Choose CNAME, type
wwwas the name and paste our second value. Set Proxy status to DNS only. Click Save.
Cloudflare is usually set up by whoever built or looks after your tech. If you do not recognise it, ask them first. We suggest DNS only because it keeps our hosting certificate working without extra settings. The labels for the name and target boxes are not named in Cloudflare's guide, so read the form.
How long it takes
Usually a few minutes. Sometimes up to a day while the change spreads across the internet. Nothing is lost in the meantime: visitors see either the old site or the new one.
How to check
Type your domain into a browser, with and without the www. When both show the new site, you are done. Or just ask us, and we will check from our side.
If Cloudflare also hosts your old site
Leave it alone. It switches off by itself once the records change. Do not cancel anything until we say the new site is live.
Not sure?
Message us and we will do it with you on a ten-minute call. Get in touch.
