A landscaper's site for Canberra
Being inland, Canberra has hot dry summers, frosty winter mornings and the occasional hailstorm, and the bush on the edges can burn in a bad season. Canberra is a planned city laid out around Lake Burley Griffin, with separate town centres in districts like Belconnen, Woden and Gungahlin and bush reserves in between.
Frosts around Canberra limit what a garden can carry, so name the plants you choose for cold winters and show a winter photo, because buyers want to see how the garden looks when it's coldest. Homes on bushland edges around Canberra need gardens planned with fire in mind, so mention the plants, mulches and spacing you use and show a project built for a fire-prone street. New estates around Canberra deliver bare blocks with a patch of dirt, so a page on first gardens, covering turf, fencing, paving and planting for a new house, speaks to owners starting from nothing. In a place the size of Canberra, a landscaper's work is visible all over town, so show a few finished gardens with their suburbs and let the neighbours verify them.
Name the places you really work, the way people type them: Kambah, Civic and Belconnen, not just Canberra.

- Design, construction and maintenance explained as separate services, with a note on which you take on.

- low-maintenance gardens
The rules in the ACT
Whether a landscaper in the ACT needs a licence depends on the work and the size of the job, so check with Access Canberra. If your work as a landscaper is covered, the site shows the licence number.
A plant or turf guarantee is a promise, so state its length, what it covers and what care the owner has to give.

Landscapers in Canberra: questions
- What do I say about plant guarantees?
- Be specific. Say how long the guarantee runs, which plants are covered and what the owner must do, like regular watering. Most losses come from neglect or a bad season, and a clear line protects you and sets expectations.
- Should I show the subcontractors I use?
- Say which parts you do yourself and which you bring in, such as lighting, irrigation or large structural walls. You don't need to name each business. You do need to tell a buyer who is responsible if something needs fixing later.
- How should a Canberra landscaper deal with Queanbeyan customers?
- Say plainly that you cover both sides of the border. Queanbeyan and Jerrabomberra people look up Canberra businesses, and many do not know whether a firm crosses into New South Wales. One line on your site and in your Google profile saves the question.
